5 things to do in London this summer

London in the summer is one of the best cities in the world. It might be a little more congested with tourists, and slightly stickier in the heat, but with so much going on you are spoilt for choice with what to do with those extra-long summer days.

1. Dinerama
Shoreditch’s street feast extravaganza is back for 2016 ready for you to gorge yourself on gourmet chicken wings and craft beer in the sunshine. It’s two storeys high, with 15 different vendors, from Chinese steamed buns to salted caramel doughnuts. You will probably have to go a couple of times in order to try everything, so get along quick!

2. ArcellorMittal Orbital Slide
Named by TimeOut as the ONE thing to do in London this summer makes this activity pretty special. Descend down the world’s highest and longest slide (178m) and catch a glimpse of London’s iconic landmarks as you go. This 40 second trip winds through and around the famous Olympic structure and is sure to get you excited for the Rio Games.

3. Notting Hill Carnival
An annual event that Londoners and tourists alike will brave even torrential rain for, Notting Hill carnival is a vibrant two-day festival. This is Britain’s biggest street party and it’s a feast for all of the senses with music, dancing, delicious food and, of course, the most extravagant costumes you might ever see. Every year out does the one before so put it in the diary (27th and 28th August FYI).

4. Brixton Beach Boulevard
This pop-up beach bar in Brixton is stuck in retro Miami, complete with pastel colours, neon signage and sandy floor. If you want a cute place with a chilled atmosphere to drink a few before heading out in Brixton, then this is the one.

5. Luna Cinema
You might have thought that with such temperamental weather Britain wouldn’t do outdoor cinemas. Not true! We British are an oddly optimistic bunch so the Luna Cinema has been born, with locations all over the country playing classic films in an alfresco environment. There are over 50 just in London so book a spot now to enjoy those summer evenings.
