Top 5: Exeter pre-graduation bucket list

Top 5: Exeter pre-graduation bucket list

University of Exeter student Zsofia Sandor has, for your reading pleasure, the top five things to tick off at Exeter before you fly the nest and enter the big bad world. Pizza, beer gardens and beaches feature aplenty. Obvs.

As an Exeter student, you have no doubt made many fond memories during your time here. But to make the most of the next six months leading up to graduation, follow this ultimate pre-graduation bucket list. Who knows, completing every item might even make the inevitable goodbye a little easier. You can accept your diploma knowing that your last months were spent taking an advantage of everything this beautiful university, and city, has to offer. Anyway, jobs for University of Exeter graduates are easy to come by, right?

break-v1

1.     Finish a whole Firehouse pizza
Firehouse Pizza
Also known as “Find a seat at Firehouse at rush hour”. My advice? Get there early and order a bottle of their very reasonably priced house wine, or some of their famous cider, to make waiting more enjoyable. When the kitchen opens, go ahead and order a whole pizza to yourself. It wouldn’t be on this list if it wasn’t a challenge! But no rush – enjoy the cosy atmosphere the twinkling fairy lights and candlelight create as you slowly get fuller and fuller.

2.     Spend a sunny afternoon at The Impy
The Imperial, The Impy
Yes, The Imperial is technically a Wetherspoons, but it is the prettiest one in the country. With springtime comes warmer temperatures, longer days, and the flocking of university students to The Impy beer garden. For the most relaxed afternoon of the term, enjoy endless rounds of Pimm’s while laying on the grass with your friends, soaking up the sun you have missed during those rainy winter months.

3.     Celebrate Bonfire Night at Ottery St Mary
Ottery St Mary Bonfire Night
By your last year at Exeter, you will probably have figured out that everyone’s pretty keen on Bonfire Night around here. Why? Because we live a short twenty-minute bus ride away from the wildest celebration of the fifth of November. Three words: flaming tar barrels. I won’t give away more because trust me, you have to experience it for yourself.

4.     Go to Exmouth
Exmouth Beach
Another perk of living in the South-West? The thirty-minute train ride to the beach. After finishing your last exam in May, make the trip with your friends and enjoy doing your favorite beach activities (barbecuing, tanning, playing volleyball) while your friends up North die of jealousy.

5.     Complete a library all-nighter

Is this good advice? Probably not. But it is something every university student must do at least once during their academic career. So go ahead, pick your favorite library seat, which is thankfully unlikely to be occupied at midnight. Order curly fries at the Ram (not only an Exeter classic but perfect brain food) to keep you going. And finally, enjoy the view of the sun rising over the hilltops as you write the final words of your essay.
